NORTH AMERICAN TRUCK POWER SITUATION

Date: March 11, 2014

Dear Valued Westwood Customer,

Current State:

  • Continued winter weather, combined with a strong surge of import traffic has resulted in truck power shortages in key inland locations, particularly Detroit and Chicago.
    • Truckers in the Detroit area are booked for 3 to 5 days just to keep up with moving import volumes
    • Chicago-area truckers are booked out 2 to 4 days, depending on the timing of train arrivals.

Future Outlook:

  • Improving weather has allowed key inland rail ramps return to fluidity. Truckers will still need several weeks to work through the backlog of import deliveries.

Once again, we apologize for the inconveniences you have experienced due to these delays. We are continuing to work hard with our rail and truck providers to promptly deliver your cargo and will keep you updated as the situation changes.

As always, please feel free to contact your customer service team if you have any questions or concerns:
